FAQ

Can I write for you if I am a sex work ally but have never worked in the sex industry?

The simple answer is no. While we absolutely love support from sex work allies, all the content we publish is written, created, edited, designed and photographed by people who are currently or have formerly worked in the sex industry.

Can I wear your merch if I am not a sex worker?

Absolutely! This is a great and visible way for sex work allies to show support while centering the voices of sex workers.

A point of view published in an article on TØS is different to my experience as a sex worker. Will you remove the article?

All articles published on TØS undergo a rigorous editorial process which you can read about here. This includes being sensitivity read by an editorial committee of sex workers from different sectors, so it is unlikely we will remove the article. However, TØS Journal is all about demonstrating the diversity of the sex worker experience, so we encourage you to submit an article, art work or photographic content that reflects YOUR lived experience.

I’m a sex worker and I want to submit an article but I’ve never been published before. Can I still make a submission?

Yes. 100% yes.

I’m interested in being a member of the TØS Journal Editorial Committee. How can I apply?

Please email ruby@tosjournal.com if you are interested in applying to be a member of the Editorial Committee.

I want to write for TØS but I don’t know where to start!

If you’re keen to start writing but don’t have any experience, check out our online writing workshops. Our ARTICLE WRITING 101 workshop is completely free and has been specifically designed for sex worker writers.

Do you pay your writers and content creators?

Yes! All chosen submissions are paid $100-$150.

Why does my receipt say mous. magazine/ why is TØS published by mous?

To protect the privacy and security of the sex workers who run TØS we’ve teamed up with sex worker ally publication mous. magazine. They act as our publisher, which means they apply for grants on our behalf and collect payments on our behalf so we don’t have to out ourselves or reveal our legal names. This allows us to keep ourselves safe and to not experience as much stigma when we apply for things like funding via mous. They do not have any control over our editorial content and do not receive any payments from us.
